TMC unleashes night of terror in Birbhum

Mamata Banerjee-led TMC (Trinamool Congress) has resorted to unprecedented post-poll violence by targeting BJP offices, workers, and supporters. TMC hoodlums have not even spared women and reports have emerged of BJP polling agents being gang-raped and women workers assaulted.

As per available information, two female election agents of Nanoor BJP candidate Tarakeswar Saha were gang-raped by TMC goons and one of the victims has been missing since the incident. It has also come to light that in around 12 villages that come under the Nanoor Vidhan Sabha constituency, many female BJP workers were also molested.

As is their wont, TMC leader Derek O’Brien attempted to white-wash the rapes and molestations by terming them ‘rumor mongering’ and asked West Bengal police to verify the claims. Even the WB police have termed the incident as fake. WB police put out a ‘fake news alert’ tweet to deny the reports of BJP women polling agents being raped.

These aren’t stray instances of violence and reports suggest that ever since TMC made a comeback in the state on May 2, TMC hoodlums have been unleashing violence across the state against BJP cadres. Swapan Dasgupta had also taken to Twitter to highlight the plight of Hindu families in Birbhum.

The former Rajya Sabha MP said:

Alarming situation in Nanoor (Birbhum district) with more than a thousand Hindu families out in the fields to escape marauding mobs seeking to take it out against BJP supporters. Reports of molestation or worse of women.

Even BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya had brought to light an incident from Nandigram where female BJP workers were mercilessly thrashed by Muslim TMC goons. The incident took place in broad daylight in Kendamari village. The video showed two BJP workers were thrashed to the ground by two men. They pulled the victims by the hair while the onlookers stood as mute spectators.

The man behind the camera could be heard encouraging the accused men to continue with their assault. The women fought back and tried to defend themselves after being assaulted in full public glare. One of the men intervened and the two victims could later be seen walking away reported OpIndia.

Here are some other instances of violence against BJP cadres in Bengal that began on May 2 and have continued ever since.

On May 2, TMC goons attacked and looted the residence of BJP worker Bishwanath Dhar in Ghola Mallikpara in Panihati municipality in the North24 Parganas district. In Kismatdapat village of Trimohini in the South Dinajpur district, TMC goons are alleged to have assaulted a BJP worker and vandalized his property.

BJP worker Avijit Sarkar, who had taken to Facebook (FB) to share his harrowing experience of TMC (Trinamool Congress) violence on May 2, was lynched to death by TMC goons barely hours after Mamata Banerjee’s party won the West Bengal (WB) assembly elections.

Such is the deep-rooted hatred fostered by TMC that the violence and attack by TMC goons on BJP cadres that began in the run up to elections continue even after the verdict has gone in TMC’s favor.
