School teacher, also an RSS worker, shot in broad daylight in Kolkata’s ‘Mini Pakistan’

In yet another shocking incident reported from West Bengal, a school teacher was shot in broad daylight  in the state capital’s Metia Bruz area. Bir Bahadur Singh, who is also an RSS member, had started a class for under privileged Hindu children. As per BJYM West Bengal’s official twitter handle, he was on his way to Tantia High school to teach his students and was near Mohammad Ali Park when this incident took place.

As per pictures that have gone viral on social media, Singh was attacked from behind and received a bullet shot on his back, with blood draining out of his body profusely. He was rushed to PG Hospital and after a serious battle with death, has come out victorious.

Bir Bahadur Singh is a resident of Garden Reach in the metro’s Metia Bruz area, a Muslim dominated locality. It is alleged that his house was attacked around five months ago, and his aged parents were man-handled. However, the police didn’t arrest anyone back then.

In addition to being a Hindu welfare activist and an RSS member, according to the tweets of the President of BJYM Kolkata Port (East) and Former Convenor of ABVP, Kolkata Port, the school teacher had vigorously campaigned for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in West Bengal during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. As per Facebook posts of his friends, for this dedication towards the Hindu cause Bir Bahadur had attracted many enemies who would often threaten him with dire consequences.

Nevertheless, he was loved and respected by local Hindus for his services and work towards Hindu empowerment in West Bengal, a state where Hindus are especially under threat due to rampant minority appeasement of successive state Governments. His supporters organized a rally condemning the state government over the murderous attack, demanding justice and praying for the fast recovery of the wounded teacher.

Metia Bruz is a notorious area of Kolkata that has come to be known as ‘Mini Pakistan’. The area gained this title when in 2016, then MLA from TMC, Firhad ‘Bobby’ Hakim, had referred to it as ‘Mini Pakistan’ while introducing it to the correspondent of Pakistani newspaper The Dawn Maleeha Hamid Sidiqqui, who was covering the upcoming assembly elections. Hakim has been the Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs of West Bengal since 2011, and the mayor of Kolkata since 2018.

With every passing day, the state is turning into a hotbed of lumpen TMC elements and goons from the minority community roaming freely and targeting RSS men and BJP supporters. With Bengal elections approaching in 2021, one can only envision a spike in the number of wounded and dead Hindus crushed under the state government’s politics of appeasement.

In October, yet another school teacher & RSS worker, Bandhu Prakash Pal of Muslim dominated Murshidabad region of West Bengal was murdered along with his pregnant wife and 6-year-old child. Many in social media had asserted the presence of a communal angle, but the state police refuted such claims and denied any political or communal angle to these gory killings.

Back in June, BJP worker Samatul Dolui’s dead body was found hanging from a tree in Sapota village in Howrah district. BJP’s Howrah (rural) president Anupam Mullick had alleged that Dolui had been receiving threats since he organized and took out ‘Jai Shri Ram’ rallies in the locality.
