Sikh Girl Disappears from Kartarpur Corridor

A Sikh girl, who had visited Kartarpur Sahib and then went missing  from there, has been found three days later. In what appears to be a case of ‘Love Jihad‘, a 20 years old Bharatiya girl used the Kartarpur pilgrimage as a pretext to meet her Pakistani Facebook friend and the two were proceeding towards Faisalabad when they were caught by the security agencies. Pak rangers have taken custody of the Pakistani youth and Pakistan Police has arrested 4 persons from Lahore and Faisalabad, as well, in connection with this case.

Facebook friendship

A Sikh girl was befriended by a Pakistani youth on Facebook and had asked her to meet him at the Gurudwara in Kartarpur Sahib. Once the girl reached there, the two met up and planned to leave for Faisalabad. The girl used the permit of a Pakistani woman and was about to proceed to Faisalabad when security forces stopped them.

As per rules, devotees visiting Kartarpur Sahib are not permitted to visit any other place in Pakistan except the Gurudwara. As per the statement issued by an official of the Evacuee Trust Property Board; “A Sikh girl from Bharat who entered through the Kartarpur Corridor attempted to leave the restricted area”. Security agencies allowed her to return home after questioning. While Pakistani authorities state that the girl is from Amritsar, Punjab; according to Bharatiya media the girl belongs to Rohtak, Haryana.

Love Jihad?

The Kartarpur corridor was opened on 9th November by Pakistan to facilitate Sikh pilgrims from Bharat to pay respects at the Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara ahead of the 550th Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The alleged modus operandi in this case: – use Facebook and Social Media to contact young girls, call them to Pakistan under the pretext of love and then convert them to Islam.

Akali leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa took to Twitter to warn Hindu and Sikh girls of the love jihad trap being laid by Pakistani youth, taking advantage of the opening of Kartarpur corridor, who then force girls to convert to Islam.  It is important that young girls exercise caution while befriending youth on Social Media.
