The terror that is Indira Jaisingh

For quite some time there has been an investigation going on over alleged violations of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) by the NGOs set up by the senior lawyer couple, Indira Jaising and Anand Grover. As a first step the government cancelled the registration of the NGOs under the Act, barring them from receiving further contributions from abroad.  Support from sources within Bharat is not barred.

As part of the investigations, the premises of these two worthy people were raided so as to get some additional information for prosecution of the case. Instead of saying ‘let the law take its own course’, members of the Khan Market Gang (KMG) are going to town that this is a case of intimidation because these two worthy people, supported by many others, have supposedly been trying to expose the misdeeds of the present government.

The KMG has had a free run to try and force their agenda on the people of Bharat for a long time.  This had peaked in UPA 1 & 2 when the cabinet was superseded by an unconstitutional organisation called the National Advisory Council, and the Prime Minister was effectively under the remote control of the Chairperson of the Council.

The strong electoral performance of the National Democratic Alliance, lead by the Bharatiya Janata Party, in the 2014 elections completely unnerved the Khan Market Gang. And the significantly improved performance in 2019 has probably tipped them over the cliff. Metaphorically.

Both these results were completely unexpected by the KMG. While it was expected that the 2014 elections would certainly result in a large fall in the number of Congress MPs, the KMG were still planning their moves on the basis that this party would have sufficient numbers to form a government with alliances (mostly unholy), so that another NAC would be in place, and they would then go about forming ministries etc. as they did in UPA2.

And in 2019, the KMG had confidently predicted that the number of seats that the BJP would win would be less than 200, substantially reduced from the 282 it won in 2014.  In this scenario, they thought there would be another UPA government consisting of completely unholy alliances, or that a weakened BJP would form a government, with an important condition that Narendra Modi would NOT be the prime minister.  Both the results showed how much distanced is the KMG from the people of Bharat, even people that reside just a kilometre away from the Khan Market.

Many members of the KMG have been able to sow terror amongst the decision makers, both elected and administrative (including the judiciary), due to the fact that the Gang members in the media and academia would support each other on alleged intellectual grounds.  With this support, these Gang members would get exposure amongst the supposedly bold and beautiful of the Bharatiya economic and social elite; as also on foreign shores, including multi-national bodies set up by the world community.

Here, I am reproducing four tweets of Madhu Kishwar which expose the terror that Indira Jaising in particular has been able to inflict on the judiciary:

Such is the terror of Foreign Funded Feminists that when I pleaded with successive law ministers to institute task force 2 review easy-to-misuse provisions of laws dealing with domestic discord & rape, both said,”Indira Jaising, Vrinda Grover, Brinda Karat Gang will chew us alive.”

1/n When he was chairman of Law Commission, I pleaded with Justice A P Shah, who I hold in high regard, to preside over a public hearing on widespread misuse of laws meant ostensibly for protecting women. He asked me what do Indira Jaisingh & Vrinda Grover think about those laws? https://t.co/g5nLg6tr5Y

2/n I told Justice Shah that the two ladies are ferocious in their defence of the easy-to-abuse provisions of feminazi laws. At this Justice Shah said, “In that case I can’t risk a different stand”. He wouldn’t even agree to set up a task force to undertake honest study 2 review.

3/3 When a mighty & brilliant judge surrenders his own freedom of thought & speech at the altar of political correctness, then where do we ordinary mortals stand. People who cry wolf over threats to freedom of speech have had near total monopoly of defining political discourse

In any vibrant democracy, the participants who guide the destiny of the nation are not just the elected representatives and those in administration. Often, special skills are required to understand and deal with issues that may not be available within the system. And, even if they are, outside inputs will often be a source of great utility. So, what is called civil society can, and should, play an important role.

However, this civil society should not morph into a Khan Market Gang that we see in Bharat today. The civil society is expected to study and analyse the issues without an ideological bias, and without even a mild electoral preference. Of course, individuals do have biases – but as members of a genuine civil society, they are expected to be objective.

If the results of their inquiry into an issue goes against the grain of what their electoral preference is projecting, they should work towards making the changes in the political party they support. Not change the results to suit their preferred political party.

There is enough prima-facie evidence available that the Jaising-Grover duo have done things that are wrong. The very fact that such supposedly seasoned legal luminaries have indulged in these illegalities, shows the contempt they have had towards the system, that they thought they would get away with it.

All societies are confronted with issues that they have to deal with. Sometimes there is a need to anticipate issues as the social and economic structures change.  It is the duty of those who are contributing towards the solutions, that they do it in a manner that the interest of the people at large pervades everything else. For this to happen, the terror that the KMG have inflicted on some of the decision makers should be completely done away with.
