12-year-old Hindu girl abducted for rape, conversion and marriage by 60-year-old Muslim man: Pakistan

In yet another shocking case of persecution of Pakistan Hindus, a minor Hindu girl Rekha (12), d/o Roopo Kolhi of Khipro, Sanghar, Sindh, has been reportedly abducted for rape & conversion to Islam by a 60-year-old Muslim man who is already married & has 3 children.

As per exiled Pakistani human rights activist Rahat Austin, the abductor’s name is Muhammad Hanif Bozdar. The victim was a 6th grade student born in 2009.

Incidentally, Rahat Austin had recently expressed fears of being deported from Korea back to Pakistan, where he would face almost certain torture and incarceration by the ISI-mullah nexus which facilitates such crimes. However, it seems that the danger has now subsided and the Korean government will continue to give him refuge.

Abduction, rape, forced conversion and marriage of minor Hindu and Christian girls is an everyday occurrence in Pakistan, with an average of around 3 girls falling prey each day, and only a tiny fraction of such cases even get reported. As victim families are mostly from poor and exploited sections of society, they often lack the wherewithal to raise a police complaint in Pakistan’s deeply feudal and fanatical society.

In the odd instance when the police and authorities acknowledge the crime, a set template follows: girls are quickly whisked away to Islamic seminaries like the Sufi Bharchundi dargah run by the notorious Mian Mithoo or to Punjab province (where age of marriage is 16); the terorrized girl is made to sign conversion and marriage papers and a court affidavit stating she is acting of her own will; sometimes courts may send the girl to a shelter home, but even there she is not allowed to meet her family and is threatened with dire consequences for herself and her family by abductors; on the day of recording her statement in front of the judge, she is accompanied by gun-toting militias while her parents are kept away.

Sindh is touted as the most ‘liberal and progressive’ Pakistani province, but even it has not been able to pass a law banning religious conversion of minors due to pressure from the fundamentalist Muslim clerics.
