Bangladesh: Minor Hindu girl forcibly converted to Islam

A Hindu girl Antara (Nadi) Rani Das has been abducted and forcibly converted to Islam by local Muslims in Bauphal upazila of Patuakhali district, Bangladesh, her father has stated in a police complaint. The fifteen-year-old minor is a tenth standard student of Kachhipara High School and was missing from evening of 13th February.

The family members kept on searching in different places but no trace of her was found. Then the girl’s father Ranjit Das learnt about her abduction and forcible conversion and filed a complaint at the Bauphal police station.

This incident again shows that the Hindu minorities continue to be at the receiving end of majoritarian violence in Bangladesh. In another recent heart-wrenching crime, a 14-year-old Hindu girl was abducted, forcibly converted and married and then murdered – even her body was not handed over to her grieving father as her abductor/murderer insisted she would be buried like a Muslim. Such incidents of abduction & forced conversion, stalking of minor Hindu girls are rampant in Pakistan, Bangladesh and even Bharat.

Land grab, temple vandalism and theft, and sexual predation are the three weapons of choice wielded against Hindus and other minorities by Muslim fundamentalists of Bangladesh.
