Imran Khan’s speech shows why Pak can’t be trusted

Pakistan PM Imran Khan in his parliamentary speech ruled out partnering with the US in any future war. In a prime example of its duplicity, Khan said that the US sought to shift the blame of its Afghan defeat on Pakistan. Khan conveniently brushed under the carpet as to how Pakistan has been nurturing terrorists all along.

Geo TV quotes the Pakistan premier’s speech:

PM Imran Khan said the US was trying to force Pakistan to bring the Afghan Taliban to the negotiating table, but we “do not wish for strategic depth in Afghanistan and we will respect the decision of the Afghanis.”

The premier said Pakistan chose to aid America in the war against terror “but after that, we captured our own people and sent them to Guantanamo Bay — and former president Pervez Musharraf admitted this”.

“We sacrificed 70,000 people and wasted $150 billion in the war against terror,” he said, adding that after the Tora Bora incident, Al Qaeda started its operations in Pakistan…

…The premier said that the government at that time — during the war on terror — “did not have the courage to say no to the US and kept on lying to the people…we only want peace to prevail in Afghanistan, and that is in our best interest”.

It is probably too much to expect Khan to admit that Pakistan is the breeding ground of terrorism. Pakistan has always been two-faced, while on the one hand, it sought funds from America, on the other, it served as a safe haven for Islamic radical terrorists. Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden was housed in Pakistan until the US Navy Seals killed him in a military operation in 2011.

Khan had earlier described the world’s most wanted terrorist as a “martyr”. In his parliamentary speech last year, Imran Khan said “For Pakistanis across the globe, it was an embarrassing moment when the Americans came and killed Osama bin Laden at Abbottabad…martyred him.”

It is a well-known fact that the 9/11 terrorist attack was planned, executed, and funded by Islamic radicals from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. US troops staying back to stabilize Afghanistan in the hopes of stemming terrorism spill over into Pakistan hasn’t really worked. If anything, it has only further radicalized the country.

The one-point agenda of the Pakistani army, government, and intelligence is to destabilize Bharat and retain control back home by raising the false bogey of ‘threat from Bharat’.

As pointed out in an article in the New York Times:

Pakistan, 63 years after its founding, still exists not to be India. The Pakistani Army is obsessed with what it says is the threat from India — and keeping that threat alive is what keeps the Pakistani Army in control of the country and its key resources. The absence of either stable democracy in Pakistan or a decent public education system only swells the ranks of the Taliban and other Islamic resistance forces there. Pakistan thinks it must control Afghanistan for “strategic depth” because, if India dominated Afghanistan, Pakistan would be wedged between the two.

Unlike what Khan claims in his speech, Pakistan is very much interested in controlling Afghanistan as they can then ally with the Taliban to destabilize Bharat. Taliban has been regaining control of the areas it had lost and emerged stronger as the US and NATO troops have been withdrawing.

Taliban gaining strength also spells trouble in Kashmir keeping in view Pakistan’s obsession with the Bharatiya union territory. In fact, Imran Khan even made a reference to Kashmir in his speech, and hence, there is reason to believe that Pakistan would indulge in misadventures in Kashmir in alliance with China.
