Maa Kali murti torched at temple in Thakurgaon, Bangladesh

Yet another Hindu temple has been attacked and desecrated in Bangladesh. This time, a Maa Kali murti was torched at a temple in Uttargaon village of Thakurgaon district’s Ranisankail upazila on Thursday night.

As per a local news report

“A group of people damaged the idol at the Kali Temple adjacent to Shanto Chandra’s house in the village at around 9pm and fled,” said Jahid Iqbal, OC of Ranisankail police station. Locals immediately rushed to the spot, but by the time they doused the flames, the idol was reduced to ashes, he said.

Sadhan Bosak, general secretary of Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council’s upazila unit, said a complaint would be filed in this regard.”

Thakurgaon is a border district in North Western Bangladesh which lies adjacent to Bharat’s Uttar Dinajpur district. Arson, vandalism and looting of Hindu temples is an extremely common occurrence in Bangladesh, as Islamists working with tacit support of politicians and several administration officials use it as a tactic to persecute the Hindu minority and drive them out of the country.

Bangladeshi Hindus and even some Muslims are now demanding that Bharat’s PM Narendra Modi raise this issue with Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina on his upcoming visit there.
