The Sikh girl who was abducted, forcefully converted to Islam and married in Pakistan’s Nankana Sahib, was released to her family after a huge international uproar, especially from Sikhs in Bharat and Akali Dal leaders like Manjinder Sirsa.
After her release, the girl has narrated a chilling tale of how she was abducted, beaten and forced to sign papers to convert to Islam and marry her Muslim abductor.
Don’t believe me…but at least hear the girl frm Pakistan narrating herself how she was tortured & forced to accept Islam
I am posting videos & pics, one after another, just cos this is the worst form of Human Exploitation & we are equally culprit if we don’t raise our voice now pic.twitter.com/ZQosHzr47B— Manjinder Singh Sirsa (@mssirsa) September 6, 2019
Here’s a translation of what the girl says in the video above –
- They forced me to sit in a vehicle and took me to one Imran’s house.
- When I tried to scream for help, they threatened to kill me.
- At Imran’s house, I was beaten. They forced me to sign papers about conversion to Islam and for nikah.
- When I refused, they all beat me – including a lawyer who was present there, and the maulvi. They also threatened to kill my brothers if I refused.
- Maulvi (Muslim clergy) caught hold of my hair from behind, beat me and threatened that they would kill me if I did not accept Islam.
- (breaking down)…they forced me to accept their demands.
- I kept pleading them to send me back to my home, but they kept beating me.
The girl is a daughter of a Sikh granthi. It is heartening to see at least one girl escape from the clutches of Pakistani Islamic fundamentalists who routinely abduct Hindu, Sikh and Christian girls – it is estimated that ~ 1000 girls are abducted minority community girls are abducted each year in Pakistan.
Such cases are rife in Bangladesh and Bharat too, but in Pakistan there is a deep-rooted ecosystem of this conversion mafia consisting of maulvis, pirs (Sufi saints) at dargahs like Bharchundi Sharif, lawyers, police & politicians which operates openly, with support of all leading parties like PPP, PTI, PML etc.
It is possible that this Sikh girl managed to escape her abductor’s clutches – she was handed over to her parents after a mutual agreement was reached between the families of the boy and the girl in the house of the governor in Lahore – because the Pakistani government fears alienating the Sikh community at a time when they are trying to play the Khalistan card using the Kartarpur corridor.
But this incident shows how influential people speaking up and pursuing a case with doggedness, can help save lives of Dharmic minorities facing unimaginable persecution in countries like Pakistan & Bangladesh. Credit must go to Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Manjinder S Sirsa, who highlighted this case and did not let the matter die out even after the girl was returned to her family.
