There have been three different cases of clashes between cow smugglers and police in states of UP, Rajasthan & MP in a span of 24 hours.
Cow smugglers exchanged fire with police in Nadbai, district Bharatpur, Rajasthan. The smugglers fled after abandoning their Ertiga SUV car & police freed the stolen cattle. The car license plates (HR 74) showed it was registered in Nuh district, Haryana i.e. Mewat region which is the hub of the criminal beef mafia.
In Ratlam, MP, a pick-up carrying stolen cattle tried to run over a police party which tried to stop it on Tuesday afternoon. The smugglers rammed their pick-up into a police vehicle and managed to get away. However police informed their counterparts in Jaora who managed to catch the smugglers, Zafar and Hussain, after a chase on foot through a crowded market and with the assistance of local shopkeepers.
In Moradabad, UP, a police party consisting of a sub-inspector and 3 constables had a narrow escape when cow smugglers tried to run them over on Tuesday night. Police managed to seize both vehicles after cordoning the entire area. 2 smugglers, Mohammed Ahmed and Mohammed Adil, were arrested while 2 more, Imran and Faizan, managed to get away. 17 cattle were rescued.
