Around a dozen Muslim youth molest & thrash Hindu girl, grievously wound her brother – Lucknow, UP

In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old girl was brutally molested & thrashed by two Muslim brothers – Ehsan Ansari and Azad Ansari –  in UP’s capital Lucknow last Thursday. When the girl’s brother came to her aid, he was also attacked & left half-dead by the 2 accused and their accomplices. What is worse, it appears the girl and her family had previously complained to police about the attackers but no action was taken.

As reported by Hindi daily Amar Ujala, the incident occurred in Hasanganj police station area of Lucknow. The girl, who belongs to a Scheduled Caste community and is pursuing a beauty parlour course, was standing outside her house around 8 PM, when the 2 Ansari cousin brothers grabbed her hand and started molesting her. When the girl protested, they thrashed her and tore off her clothes.

Hearing the commotion, the girl’s brother rushed out of the house, but he was pelted with stones by the accused. The Ansaris called more accomplices and for 15 minutes the gang terrorized the entire colony. The girl’s brother was hit on the head with a brick and was only half-conscious when the attackers ran off after issuing threats.

As per the girl’s family, the two prime accused –  Ehsan and Azad Ansari – had been harassing the girl for two months. Whenever they were rebuked, they would come to the girl’s house to threaten the family. The family allege that a few days back they had complained to police, but no action was taken.

Locals said that Ehsan Ansari had assaulted a neighbour just a day before, on Wednesday. He was arrested by police for that assault and got out on bail on Thursday. It was while returning home from jail along with his cousin that he spotted the girl and molested her.

Police have lodged a case of molestation & assault against 4 named and 6 unknown persons under SC/ST Act and other IPC sections, and are conducting searches to arrest the accused.
