Minor Abducted, Forcibly Converted to Islam and Married, Escapes After 4 Years of Torture in MP

A chilling case of a minor 14-year-old Hindu girl being abducted by one Raja (aka Asif) and tortured for over 4 years has come to light from Shajapur, Madhya Pradesh.

Asif used to visit a tea shop near the victim’s house, and gradually started conversing with her. One day in 2013, he talked her into coming to Ujjain with him to buy new clothes. In Ujjain, he held her captive in his house located in Begum Bagh area. For around one year, the girl was regularly beaten up.

Despite being already married, Asif forcibly married the girl after converting her to Islam and changing her name to Ayesha. He even poured acid on her hand to remove an OM tatoo, and thus eradicate all traces of her true identity.

Two years back, while still a minor, the girl gave birth to a boy. The girl has alleged that Asif’s wife Faitma and his nephew Azhar (son of Firoz) were also involved in the assaults, forcible conversion and in keeping her captive.

On 9 January this year, the girl managed to step out of the house on the pretext of getting some clothes stitched. She ran away to Shajapur where members of some Hindu organizations saw her sobbing near the highway. When they questioned her, she narrated her horrific tale.

Hindu organizations accompanied her to SP Shailendra Singh Chauhan to file a complaint. Police has lodged a case under MP Freedom of Religion Act section 4/3 and IPC 363 (kidnapping). The girl told police that sometimes she was beaten so brutally that neighbourhood women came to her rescue.

Shajapur police has transferred the case file to Dewas police, as the girl is a resident of Khardali-khera village near Kannod town in Dewas district.

Editor’s Note

This distressing news is at danger of getting lost in the deluge of such cases that are being reported all over Bharat, particularly in the Hindi-speaking belt.

The incident reinforces the unavoidable conclusion that such cases of grooming and persecution of vulnerable Hindu women, also colloquially referred to as ‘Love Jihad’, often involve participation of entire Muslim families and neighbourhoods. The fact that many mainstream sects of Islam teach that converting a non-Muslim brings a lot of spiritual benefit or jannat (paradise) in the afterlife to the one who converts, creates a powerful incentive for such acts, where otherwise sensible people also choose to look the other way when they know that such acts are being committed in their neighbourhoods.

This minor Hindu girl, battered, raped and tortured in the worst imaginable manner for 4 dark years, will not become a cause celebre for our jet-setting NGO activists and secular politicians, because her case does not further their agenda. The liberals and intellectuals like Javed Akhtar, Guha etc who lecture Hindus day & night about being ‘tolerant’ of non-Hindus, will not have a single word to utter for the Muslim family involved in this horrific crime.

Even the lackadaisical response of MP police, in a BJP-ruled state, wherein one police station lodged the complaint only to transfer it citing jurisdictional rules, shows the utter apathy that has gripped our body politic on this vital issue. It would not come as a surprise if the case just petered out in a few months, with the accused going scot-free after some token time in jail, if at all.

Just imagine if the same had occurred with a Muslim girl in a Muslim dominated area like Hyderabad, Malda, Malappuram or Muzaffarnagar – would Muslim organizations have stopped at lodging police complaints, or would they have marched to the perpetrator’s house to settle the issue then and there? The answer will tell you everything you need to know about the contrived intolerance and vigilantism debate raging in the country.
