A shocking case that could leave the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA (Mahavikas Aghadi) government embarrassed, has come to light in Pune. According to news reports, authorities have caught food packets containing animal fodder in the mid-day meal being supplied to government school students.
Speaking on this incident, the Mayor of Pune has said that the mid-day meal is supplied by the state government and the Municipal Corporation is only bound to distribute the same to the children. The mayor of Pune has termed the incident as unfortunate and demanded an inquiry from the government.
When the local people came to know about the animal fodder being supplied in the mid-day meal meant for children, they complained to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). After receiving the complaint, the FSSAI has seized all the animal feed packets and is conducting further investigations in the matter The case has come to light from government school number 58 in Pune.
Although government schools in Maharashtra are currently closed due to the pandemic situation, schools have been instructed to deliver the children’s midday meal to their homes and local authorities have been told that to ensure that the mid-day meal reaches children at their residences.
